Leadership is is a term we use and hear extremely often. But who determines what identifies a great leader?

This is a foundational course that is a prerequisite for all IG programs, including the Accelerator, and future leadership curriculum. It will introduce you to the building blocks of leadership as an art, as a science, and as a field of practice. It will explore questions like: What are the core qualities of a successful leader? It will provide you with the knowledge and skills to become an effective leader for positive change.

L201: Inter-personal Leadership: Empathy in action, The art of Influencing Without Authority

 

Every leader must master not onlt the art of communicating, but more importantly, the art of understanding others. In order to lead positive change, leaders must be empathetic, discerning, and must have high emotional intelligence. A CareerBuilder Survey found that 71% of employers value emotional intelligence over IQ. This course will teach you to to harness emotional intelligence for improving interpersonal relationships and wielding influence without positional authority. We will cite various famous authors including Brene Brown in this transformative and thought provoking course. This courseis inspired by a highly popular course at the Stanford Graduate School of Business titled: "Inter-personal Dynamics" referred to internally as the "touchy feely course." By the end, you will learn how to leverage emotional intelligence for academic and professional career advancement.

L202: Leadership for impact: The art of Negotiation

The ability to solve problems collaboratively is what sets leaders apart,  in almost every professional space, as well as in the international community. A study from Harvard Law School found that negotiation skills are a key asset in career development, often leading to better job offers and contracts. This intersectional course will dive into the art of negotiation, and how leaders leverage negotiation skills to advance both personal and collective interest. Build expertise in negotiation tactics and strategies to exert influence effectively.

L203: Think like a leader: Critical ThinkinG Masterclass

 

One of the most important, critical and fundemantal skills of leadership is the ability to think in a critical, structured, and logical way. The Wall Street Journal reports that 89% of executives value critical thinking as an essential skill, often influencing hiring and promotion decisions. This foundational and life transforming course will help you identify the main types of logical fallacies used to manipulate, misinform, or control social masses, and how to decidedly step beyond them in order to build a better tomorrow for generations to come.

L204: Think like a leader: Decision Making Under Pressure

CI 101: Communicating for impact: Public Speaking

This course will introduce you to the art of public speaking, and help you master this very important leadership skill.

C102: Communicating for impact: Debate and public negotiations

​

We see debates play out in various settings, from Presidential campaigns, to courts of law. However, the art of debating is a skill that's especially important for social change leaders, because they often find themselves at the heart of ofentimes contentious, controversial, or sensitive issues that influence many people outside of their spheres of influence. It is required to convey your ideas to large groups, to gain trust and to influence positive change.  This course will introduce you to the art of debate, how to stand out in any public debate on a social impact issue, and help you master this very important leadership skill for social impact.

CI 201: Communicating for impact: DIGITAL MEDIA
